Language is such a small thing when terms are clearly defined and I accept that ‘physical distancing’ and ‘social distancing’ are synonymous. However, the aim in my view is to remain socially connected whilst physically distancing, so that’s why I’m using physical distancing instead of social distancing.
There’s an interesting blog here about the importance of maintaining social connection whilst physically distancing, and I’m pleased to see that CDC includes physical distancing as a synonym for social distancing in their COVID-19 guidance pages.

I wonder what the logic is for the social distancing terminology – perhaps something to do with physical distancing being a social behaviour – and not physically distancing being anti-social?!
